Hi all, one of the Uk's largest Hoverflies, Volucella zonaria
Taken in August '09 feeding on Echinops (Globe Thistle)

Canon Eos 40D/100mm f2.8 macro
Exif f8; 1/400sec; iso400; +0.3ev;Pattern metering

Fantastic image! Sharp, colourful and it makes me feel warmer just looking at it As to the crop, I think somewhere between the two (a bit off the left from the first one).

Razor sharp - a beautiful image whatever crop you choose.
I kind of prefer the first angle but thats just me liking contextual shots generally I guess

I missed this one the first time round Tony. What beautiful detail! I like the first one best, but the second crop does show off just how well you've captured this little beastie.
